Are you an introvert or extrovert, you feel have the gift to chat or just do not know how to make small talk, networking know-how is very important to the success of your business. There are ideas in the business I believe that most of us subscribe to that says “all things are equal, people will do business with and refer business to those they know, like and trust.” And this is clearly the key to be able to develop relationships.

Think of networking as cultivating mutually beneficial, win-win relationship. To be win-win, there must be GIVE and take (notice the emphasis on giving). Network can not be seen as “events” where you go to sell your business. When the network is effective progress, the parties involved actively share ideas, information, resources, etc.

Ok, so you know that you need to network because it is one of the most cost effective lead generation activities when used wisely, and the appropriate professional. But, perhaps the word that seems easier than done. Here is a seven-step plan to actually happen with the network for your business.

1. Check out some of the group to find the best chemistry, and perceived value. Most of the group will allow you to come and visit at least a few times before you join. Go and ask around to find out why other people have joined and what value they get from the property.

Resist the urge to just go join the Chamber of Commerce just because everyone tells you what you should do. If you do not know where the target group will be found, then you may just be wasting a considerable amount of time (and money).

I did not say not to join the Chamber. Only become clear on what you want to get out of this or any other group. If it’s prospective clients to find the source or reference, then you need a network in which resources can be found.

2. When you find two or a group, join and go to all the meetings you can. Do not go only once or twice expect something happens, and if they do not stop. Building mutually beneficial, win-win relationship will take a long time.

My need to continue to make the face to see and hear your message. Hold contacts with other people from time to time will open the opportunity for you to go deeper and learn more about each others thoughts, ideas and skills in the business of each.

Know, like, and trust in general, only occur during this. The usual and will still pay off.

3. Involved – will be visible. Do as much as possible to make yourself more visible in the organization. Volunteer to help with the meeting, not on the committee, or become a leader or a member of the council.

Not taking some things for you and your business. First, you’ll get more opportunities to build relationships and recognize some of the contacts have been made better. Second, the higher the visibility you have in the group, the less you have to work to create a new connection. Instead, as new people come into the group, they will tend to find you because they see you as a leader in the organization.
